第一篇:《What’s important in choosing a career》
What’s important in choosing a career
After ten years, when we graduate from college and meet in a fellow-student association, the most likely question we ask is:How much money you earn in a month now or other similar questions like this. It’s a very realistic issue. On the background of market-oriented economy, many things can be measured by money,of course, including personal ability.People simply hold the view that financial gain is in proportion to success, that means the more you earn, the more successful you are.In this circumstance, there is no wonder that more and more people choose financial gains as the most important factor when begin their careers. However, their behavior is superficial because there are many more important factors need to be considered when choosing a job.Financial gain is an important factor in choosing a career, but not the most.
As students in school,we have been told many times that hobbies and interests are the best teachers when we begin new lessons or learn new skills.Similarly,to start a career,we should accord our hobbies and interests of course.Participating in the works we are interested in,it can promote the most ability of us.It is going to be a win-win situation for us and the employer. On the contrary,if the job is boring and uninteresting,we won’t invest enough effort on it.In this situation, even though you earn a lot,you still fell unhappy and work has been a heavy burden for you.
In addition to hobbies and interests,we also need to balance our pains and gains in choosing jobs. The more money you earn from the employer always means the more efforts you make at the same time, that is no coincidence. Here is a typical example:Huawei pays more money for graduates than many other companies every year, but many of them have little interest in working there or choosing job-hopping after two or three years. Why?A large portion of reason is that its’ work stress is too much.So when we choose a job,we must be sure whether we can deal with the work pressure or not, rather than only caring about financial gains.
Another important factor in choosing a career is personal long-term development. In general,we will change several jobs in our whole life. Those who change jobs frequently, called job-hoppers,don’t have a clear plan for their career. They don’t consider their long-term development but only care about how much money they can get at that time.Perhaps the company you work for is in decline,it will go bankrupt in few years. Before choosing a job,we need to investigate not only the company’s development and prospect, but also the possibility of our pay raise and promotion.Simply put,we should take a long-term view.
Besides those factors mentioned above, other factors also need to be considered, including workplace, welfare and personal relationships.Financial gain is an important factor in choosing a career, but
it shouldn’t be the most one among those mentioned above. We should take overall consideration, not merely financial gains.

After graduation I want to find a job as a teacher in New Oriental or some educational companies like that.
Would you consider changing your job in the future?
I would say yes if there‟s a better opportunity. Because I have accumulated some experience since graduation and I also get some offers during this period of time. What do you think of flexible working hour? [pros and cons]
I think it depends. For the employees it‟s of course good, since we will have more personal time. But for the company, it may increase their managing difficulties without rigid control.
What‟s the most important thing in your job?
WHAT IS IMPORTANT WHEN...?
Aiming to reduce staff turnover Preparing for a job interview
●Financial incentives ●Studying the job advertisement ●Career structure ●Finding out about the company Entertaining clients
●Types of activities
A. WHAT IS IMPORTANT WHEN...?
Aiming to reduce staff turnover
[What‟s the function of financial incentives?& What kind of financial incentives may offer? ]
[What will be the disadvantage if we don‟t know our career structure? & How to make employees clear about their career structure?
●pleasant working environment/flexible working hour
Well, I choose topic A, what is important when aiming to reduce staff turnover. As far as I am concerned, there are three things to consider.
First of all, we should take financial incentives into consideration. Staff want some sort of recognition for the job that they do. Correct financial benefits plan will arouse their enthusiasm; otherwise they would feel being ignored. So we‟d better give reward for their contribution to the company.
In addition, career structure should be another important point. Very few people like to stay in their positions until they retire. They all wish to have better jobs. If they can join some sort of training programmes, the staff turnover may decline and the employees' motivation may arouse.
Furthermore, we should not ignore pleasant work environment. So that employees can have better feeling during work. It may includes comfortable offices,
modern facilities, a lounge or even a staff canteen.
While there are also other considerations in aiming to reduce staff turnover, but I believe the factors mentioned above are the most significant ones.
B. WHAT IS IMPORTANT WHEN...?
Preparing for a job interview
●Studying the job advertisement
[What can we know by studying job advertisement? &What‟s the benefit of studying job advertisement? ]
●Finding out about the company
[What information can we find? & What‟s the benefit of that? ]
●preparing psychologically/perfect our resume
I choose topic A, what is important when preparing for a job interview. As far as I am concerned, there are 3 things to be considered.
First of all, we should take studying the job advertisement into consideration. By studying the job advertisement, we can match your knowledge, skills and abilities with the specifications required for the post.
In addition, finding out about the company should be another important point, such as its image, structure, existing problems, requirements, campaigns and future plans. As a Chinese saying goes: “know the opponent and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles without defeat.”
Furthermore, we should not ignore preparing ourselves psychologically and this will help you combat stress. We should show our confidence and capacity to convince the interviewer that I‟m the best choice.
While there are also other considerations in preparing for a job interview, but I believe the factors mentioned above are the most significant ones.
C. WHAT IS IMPORTANT WHEN ... ?
●Types of activities [According to what? & What kind of activities may choose? ] ●Cost[Principles & Specific plan]
●Timing for bringing up the subject of business/arrangement of details/business etiquette
Well, I choose topic A, what is important when entertaining clients. As far as I am concerned, there are 3 things to be considered.
First of all, we should take types of activities into consideration. we need to consider the client‟s age, educational and cultural backgrounds and do some research about our clients‟ characters and hobbies.
In addition, cost should be another important point. It depends on the size of the deal. If the company is expecting to make big gain out of a specific client, it should at least put in proportional investment to entertain its clients. You should make them feel being welcomed.
Furthermore, we should not ignore the timing for bringing up the subject of business. Because inopportune mentioning of the matter of business may discourage their interest in the business you intend to do and even ruin a fine business opportunity.
While there are also other considerations in entertaining clients, but I believe the factors mentioned above are the most significant ones.

The house next door had been empty for so long that we had quite forgotten what it was like to have neighbors. One day, however, a truck things were piled up by the roadside. A small car arrived, out of which came a man, a woman and five children of ages. The children laughed happily as the whole family went into the house. It was our first on the Robinsons.
Though we became friends with our new neighbors, we were often made by them. We lent them so many things that we never knew whether had been lost or borrowed. Our garden became an unsafe place; little boys cowboys or fighters would jump up from behind bushes, wooden guns at us and order us to Even

we didn't go in fear of our lives. The Robinsons were friendly and helpful and when we left our house for the holidays, we knew we had nothing to so long as our neighbors were around. We understood what it was to have company in the long, friendless winter evening when Mrs. Robinson would for a cup of tea and a chat; or when Mr. Robinson would lean over the fence and endlessly with my father about gardening The empty house next door was filled with life and joy.
